Bitcoins have no dividend or potential future dividend, therefore not like a stock.

More like a collectible or commodity.

Real Bedford, The Football club in tier 9th of English Football turns to a Bitcoin Standard.

The Peoples Game

Football is undoubtedly the people’s game. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Football was widely accepted as the most popular game in the western world. In the space of a few decades, it had become the best-supported team game in Britain, watched and played by more boys and men than any other sport.

Yet here was a game with strong traditional folk roots and a history that stretched back to the late Middle Ages. The passion for the game spread from one town to another, a passion that, though familiar today, was new in the years after 1870. Thereafter, the game rapidly spread to much of the world: to Europe, South America, and a host of other societies.

Contagion

Bitcoin is undoubted “the people’s money.” At the beginning of the twentieth century, In 2009 a piece of code called Bitcoin was unleashed into the world via the internet. In the space of a few years, it overtook the market cap of ninety national fiat currencies. Like a virus. The contagion spread. This spread continues no matter what you or I say or try and do about it. And it will continue to systematically take down the entire list of global FIAT currencies.

Yet here was a currency with strong security and a history that stretched back to 2009. The passion for this protocol of sound money spread from one town to another, a passion that, though familiar today, was new in the years after 2009. Thereafter, the virus of Bitcoin rapidly spread to much of the world: to Europe, South America, and a host of other societies.

What’s all this got to do with Football?

Introducing Peter McCormack, the football-loving, Spurs-hating, tatoochioed host of What Bitcoin Did (Number 1 Bitcoin Podcast in the World) decided he had a dream and that dream was to take his local side Bedford F.C from languishing in the 9th tier of English football to the premier league in 9 seasons.

Good luck with that, with average crowds in the dozens. The guy seems to have escaped the cuckoo’s nest. Or has he? His principle is quite simple. He will run the club on a bitcoin standard. Which means he plans to run the club’s economy in bitcoin. From taking payments in the club shop, to drinks in the bar. Bitcoin will be the backbone of everything the club does.

McCormack’s marketing background combined with his popular podcast. This means he has the audience and the reach to vocalize the thousands of bitcoin advocates around the world. With some clever merchandising (colouring the club kit to the bitcoin orange) and hosting meetups before the games.

The club has attracted sponsorship from all around the globe. The extra spotlight has enabled the club to 10 x its budget for wages from the previous season.

The new players have inspired the club to the top of the SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE – DIVISION 1

There is a long way to go. But Peter is hoping Bitcoins meteoric rise will rub off onto the 3rd biggest football club in Bedford!

will report back.
